Three polls give Brown lead over DeWine
Dayton Daily News
Democrat Sherrod Brown has opened up leads of 14 percentage points, 12 percentage points and 7 percentage points among likely voters over Republican incumbent Mike DeWine in Ohio's U.S. Senate race, in polls released Tuesday.
A New York Times/CBS poll released late Tuesday indicated Brown held a 49-35 lead over DeWine. The Ohio Poll, which had Brown with the 7 percentage point lead, also showed Democrat Ted Strickland leading Republican J. Kenneth Blackwell by 14 percentage points in the governor's race.
The Quinnipiac University Poll, which showed Brown with the 12 percentage point lead, will release results in the governor's race today.
In previous polls, the Senate race has been very close.
"The basic message from the ... polls is the race is moving away from DeWine and toward Brown," said Eric Rademacher, co-director of the Ohio Poll.
But he said there are three weeks until Election Day, Nov. 7, "an eternity in ... politics."
