GOP is down to scare tactics

So far, [DeWine] has thrown body blows at Democrat Sherrod Brown, but they've generally been grounded in policy - and Brown has counterpunched brilliantly. That leaves dirt and scare tactics, and, frankly, the former Greene County prosecutor doesn't deliver either very well. His efforts to tar Brown with a 14-year-old tax delinquency earned reprimands from many of the same newspapers that endorsed him. Then, at the City Club, he dusted off some even moldier allegations of drug use by staffers when Brown was Ohio's secretary of state. But when the former Greene County prosecutor started talking about a marijuana-laced banana, even some of his supporters winced.
