Brown Offers New Direction for Ohio Economy

"Road to Change" Tour Highlights Business Development, Job Growth

TOLEDO--Congressman Sherrod Brown (D-Lorain County) today launched a statewide tour to outline ways to spur job growth and economic development throughout Ohio.

Joined by workers, business owners, and community leaders from the Toledo area, Brown discussed key components to rebuilding Ohio's economy - revamping U.S. trade policy, lowering the cost of health care, promoting small business development and new technology, and investing in higher education funding and urban and rural infrastructure projects.

"Failed policies in Washington and Columbus are holding back Ohio's workforce and entrepreneurs," Brown said. "It's time for a new direction that will tap Ohio's vast potential."

The event, held at the University of Toledo Business Incubator, highlighted opportunities in the alternative fuel industry for Ohio workers. Brown noted that biomass, geothermal energy, solar energy, and wind power will all require high-tech components already manufactured in Ohio.
