Sherrod Continues Fighting To Connect Ohio Servicemembers and Veterans Exposed to Toxic Burn Pits with Healthcare Benefits

COLUMBUS, OH  – Today, on Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Sherrod joined Ohioan Danielle Robinson to highlight their work connecting Ohio servicemembers and veterans exposed to toxins and burn pits with healthcare and benefits. Brown named bipartisan legislation, the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, after Danielle’s husband Heath, who passed away after being exposed to burn pits.

“When my husband Heath was diagnosed with cancer after exposure to toxic burn pits while serving in Iraq, we reached out to Sherrod Brown for help,” said Danielle Robinson. “Sherrod jumped into action, wrote legislation, and brought Democrats and Republicans together to help our veterans get the healthcare they deserve. I am not only grateful to Sherrod for fulfilling Heath’s dying wish of helping other veterans, but also for ensuring other military families won’t have to go through the same battle with the VA as we did. I encourage any veteran or servicemember who has been exposed to toxic burn pits to sign up for the care they need.”

“On Military Spouse Appreciation Day, I’m reminded of Danielle’s courageous fight to pass the PACT Act for families like hers,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “Our veterans deserve the care they’ve earned and I am grateful for Danielle’s leadership in our years-long fight to get this done. We must continue to lift up military spouses and families who sacrifice so much for our country.”

Sherrod has hosted over 35 roundtables across the state to ensure veterans are aware of the benefits available to them through the PACT Act.
