Chip in $20 to support Sherrod Brown's Campaign

Local Labor Leaders, Workers Host “Workers for Sherrod” Tour Stop in Dayton

DAYTON, OH  – Today, Dayton-Miami Valley AFL-CIO President Tom Ritchie, UFCW 75 Minority Coalition Coordinator Tonya McCoy, and IUPAT DC-6 Assistant Service Director David Lay hosted a “Workers for Sherrod” statewide tour stop in Dayton.

The “Workers for Sherrod” statewide tour is highlighting Sherrod’s record delivering for Ohio workers and fighting for the Dignity of Work, the belief that hard work should pay off for everyone, with stops across Ohio. Ohio workers are lining up behind Sherrod, citing his fight to save the pensions of over 100,000 Ohio workers and his commitment to making sure every family has a path to the middle class.

“We never have to wonder about where Sherrod stands: he always stands with Ohio workers,” said Dayton-Miami Valley AFL-CIO President Tom Ritchie. “We have Sherrod to thank for making sure workers in Dayton and workers across the state  have the support and resources they need.”

“No one has fought harder for Ohio workers than Sherrod Brown – he saved the pensions of more than 100,000 Ohioans, he’s stood on the picket lines with us, and he’s fought to protect our overtime pay,” said UFCW 75 Minority Coalition Coordinator Tonya McCoy.

“Sherrod’s record of delivering for Ohio workers cannot be overstated,” said IUPAT DC-6 Assistant Service Director David Lay. “From passing the CHIPS Act to his work to ensure the bipartisan infrastructure package included Buy America provisions, his leadership will benefit thousands and thousands of workers across our state.”

Sherrod has always fought for workers and the Dignity of Work to make sure hard work pays off for everyone:

  • Sherrod delivered critical investments to Dayton’s Wright-Patt Air Force Base so the complex and workers have the resources they need to keep our country safe.
  • Sherrod secured investments for Joby Aviation’s first scaled aircraft production facility in Dayton through the CHIPS and Science Act.
  • Sherrod secured a $4.2 Million grant to renovate Lakeland Community College’s Industrial Skills Training Center to help young Ohioans secure good-paying jobs.
  • Sherrod led the fight to save the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans through the Butch Lewis Act, named after an Ohio Teamster.
  • Sherrod worked to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law with prevailing wage requirements, creating good-paying jobs for workers in the trades across Ohio rebuilding our infrastructure.
  • Sherrod introduced the Part-Time Worker Bill of Rights Act to expand pension and family leave benefits and give part-time workers more control over their schedule.
  • Sherrod has always stood up against bad trade deals like NAFTA that shipped Ohio jobs overseas and is fighting to make sure workers have a seat at the table for all trade agreements.
  • Sherrod introduced the Restoring Overtime Pay Act to enshrine overtime pay protections into law and expand who qualifies for overtime pay so millions more Americans are paid for the hours they work.
  • Sherrod is also working to grow the next generation of Ohio workers by organizing summer manufacturing camps across Ohio, including in Dayton, that give young people an opportunity to learn about a future in the industry.
