Sherrod Brown: “Bernie Moreno Thinks He Knows Better” Than Ohioans

COLUMBUS, OH – Senator Sherrod Brown spoke with WCMH’s Colleen Marshall today following Bernie Moreno’s comments mocking women for wanting to make their own health care decisions. Sherrod told WCMH, “Bernie Moreno thinks he knows better than […] Ohioans” who voted overwhelmingly to protect abortion rights last year.

Moreno’s comments have been widely condemned, including by Republican Nikki Haley and a former aide to John Boehner, who called out Bernie Moreno for insulting and “undermin[ing]” Ohio women.

WCMH: “There’s backlash across the country today as a story that NBC first [brought you] involving statements by Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno. Now, he criticized suburban women for being what he called ‘single issue voters.’” 

Sherrod: “The idea that he doesn’t understand why women care so much about this, and in some sense he was mocking them… It says a lot more about him, frankly, about him and his values. I continue to be shocked that Bernie Moreno thinks he knows better than 57% of Ohioans who turned out to vote and said that we want the constitutional right to abortion in our state.”
