COLUMBUS, OH – Bernie Moreno continues to face backlash “from both sides of the aisle” for mocking Ohioans by calling Ohio women “a little crazy” for wanting to make their own healthcare decisions, and as NBC News points out, his comments have now “hit the airwaves.”
Also this week, more than 1,300 women of all political backgrounds penned a letter to call out Moreno over his comments and show their support for Sherrod.
Moreno’s comments have already been widely condemned by Ohioans of all parties, including Republican Nikki Haley, Republican former U.S. Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, and Republican former Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery.
NBC News: Bernie Moreno’s ‘crazy’ abortion comment shows up in Ohio Senate race ads
Henry Gomez and Ben Kamisar – October 11, 2024
- Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and his Democratic allies have hit the airwaves with ads highlighting how his Republican rival, Bernie Moreno, called women who are single-issue voters on abortion “crazy.”
- “OK, a little crazy, by the way,” Moreno said at an event last month that was captured on video and first reported by NBC affiliate WCMH in Columbus. “But, especially for women that are like past 50, I’m thinking to myself, I don’t think that’s an issue for you.”
- A second ad from Brown’s campaign, titled “Crazy,” features several women responding to Moreno.
- “Bernie Moreno, I am 100 years old,” an elderly woman says at the close of the commercial, “and I’m definitely not crazy.”
