COLUMBUS, OH – Today, Sherrod Brown rallied Ohioans alongside seven national labor leaders and Ohio workers in Columbus to highlight the stakes of the upcoming election and Sherrod’s fight for the Dignity of Work.
“This fight – the fight for Ohio and for workers and to make sure everyone has a path to the middle class – is personal to me. Everything I do comes back to fighting for the Dignity of Work – the idea that hard work should pay off for everyone – no matter who you are, where you live, or what you do,” said Sherrod. “Because when you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work.”
Sherrod was joined by the President of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) Liz Shuler, President of American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Lee Saunders, President of American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Randi Weingarten, President of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) April Verrett, President of International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) Jimmy Williams, President of Communication Workers of America (CWA) Claude Cummings, and President of the National Education Association (NEA) Becky Pringle, who voiced their support for Sherrod, citing his track record standing up to presidents of both parties against bad trade deals that hurt Ohio workers and saving the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans.
While Sherrod fights for Ohioans and the Dignity of Work, Bernie Moreno has made it clear he only looks out for himself – from “stiffing” his workers out of the overtime they earned and deliberately shredding documents a judge ordered him to keep to get away with it, to selling the Chinese-made Buick Envision which “shipped [Ohio jobs] overseas,” to mocking Ohio women for wanting to make their own health care decisions and caring about abortion rights.

Sherrod will always fight for workers and the Dignity of Work because no matter who you are, where you live, or what job you do, he understands your work has dignity:
- When Wall Street gambled away workers’ retirement savings, Sherrod led the years-long fight to pass the Butch Lewis Act – which successfully saved the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans. Sherrod named the bill after Butch Lewis, an Ohio Teamster.
- Sherrod has stood up to presidents of both parties against bad trade deals and policies that would hurt Ohio manufacturers and send Ohio jobs overseas.
- Sherrod led the CHIPS and Science Act to ensure the future of technology is built in Ohio, by Ohio workers.
- Sherrod wrote and passed the bipartisan PACT Act to secure health care and benefits for veterans exposed to toxins and burn pits during their service. Sherrod has also hosted roundtables across the state to ensure veterans are aware of the benefits available to them.
- Sherrod worked with Republicans to successfully pass the FEND Off Fentanyl Act to protect Ohioans from dangerous fentanyl and provide resources to law enforcement to keep fentanyl out of Ohio communities.
- Sherrod stood up to Big Pharma and championed legislation to cap the cost of insulin at $35 for Medicare recipients. Sherrod is now fighting to cap the cost of insulin for all Americans.
