COLUMBUS, OH – Last night, Sherrod joined
Alex Wagner Tonight to discuss Bernie Moreno’s comments mocking Ohio women for wanting to make their own health care decisions along with Sherrod’s record standing up to special interests to fight for Ohioans.
While Sherrod has always fought to protect a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, his opponent has “[drawn] criticism from both sides of the aisle” for “insult[ing] Ohio women” by calling them “a little crazy” for wanting to make their own health care decisions.

Alex Wagner: “Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno recently insisted that abortion isn’t really that big of a deal, saying it’s ‘crazy’ for women past 50 to think it’s an issue at all.”
Sherrod: “Moreno thinks he knows better. [Abortion rights protections] passed 57% to 43%, passed in a huge number of counties around the state, Ohioans clearly have stated what they think. Bernie Moreno holds onto a national abortion ban, says he’s 100% pro-life, no exceptions – rape, incest, health of the women… He thinks he knows better. He wants to override what Ohio voters said and we’re simply not going to let him go to Washington.”
Sherrod: “Just in the last week, I was endorsed by the firefighters at an event in Cleveland. I was with 20 teamsters also in Cleveland. I was in Youngstown, at the Lordstown plant with probably 50 autoworkers talking about how we need to stand up for them – we saved the pension of 100,000 union workers.”
Sherrod: “To me, politics isn’t left or right – it’s whose side are you on? And you listen to people. I knew when I got in this race that they would spend tens of millions of dollars [against me.] Because when you stand up for workers and you stand up to special interests – you stand up to Wall Street, you stand up to the companies that outsource jobs, you stand up to the drug companies – they come after you. [There’s] more money in this race against me, literally, than any Senate race ever in history.”
