Former Governor John Kasich Says Bernie Moreno “Touched A Nerve” By Mocking Ohio Women For Wanting To Make Their Own Health Care Decisions

COLUMBUS, OH – Former Republican Governor of Ohio John Kasich yesterday said Bernie Moreno “touched a nerve” by mocking Ohioans and saying it’s “a little crazy” for women to want the freedom to make their own health care decisions.

Moreno’s “demeaning” and “dismissive” comments have been widely condemned by Ohioans and politicians “from both sides of the aisle,” including Republican Nikki Haley, Republican former U.S. Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, Republican former Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery, and more than 1,300 women “of all ages and political affiliations” who recently “lambasted” Moreno in a letter.

MSNBC“Governor, let’s talk about Ohio and the Senate race there. Abortion back at the center of it after this cell phone video surfaced of Republican Bernie Moreno last month.”

Bernie Moreno“A lot of suburban women that are like ‘listen, abortion is it. If I can’t have an abortion in this country whenever I want, I will vote for anybody else.’ Ok, a little crazy, by the way. But, especially for women that are like past 50, I’m thinking to myself, I don’t think that’s an issue for you.”

MSNBC“So Moreno insists he was joking, but it did catch the attention of a lot of people, including Nikki Haley, who posted, ‘are you trying to lose the election?’”

John Kasich, Republican former Governor of OhioWell, I can tell you that his comments, Moreno’s comments, have touched a nerve with women.”
